Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid: The person who increased the number of Adhans for the Jumua prayers to three was `Uthman bin `Affan and it was when the number of the (Muslim) people of Medina had increased. In the lifetime of the Prophet there was only one Mu'adh-dhin and the Adhan used to be pronounced only after the Imam had taken his seat (i.e. on the pulpit).

ہم سے ابونعیم فضل بن دکین نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے عبد العزیز بن ابوسلمہ ماجشون نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے زہری نے بیان کیا، ان سے سائب بن یزید نے کہ

جمعہ میں تیسری اذان عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ نے بڑھائی جبکہ مدینہ میں لوگ زیادہ ہو گئے تھے جب کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ایک ہی مؤذن تھے۔ ( آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے دور میں ) جمعہ کی اذان اس وقت دی جاتی جب امام منبر پر بیٹھتا۔
