سنن ابن ماجہ

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The Imam is appointed to be followed. When he says Allahu Akbar, then say Allahu Akbar; when he bows, then bow; when he says Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah, then say Rabbana wa lakal-hamd; when he prostrates then prostrate; if he prays standing, then pray standing, and if he prays sitting down then pray sitting down.”

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: امام اس لیے بنایا گیا ہے کہ اس کی اقتداء کی جائے، لہٰذا جب وہ «الله أكبر» کہے، تو تم بھی «الله أكبر» کہو، اور جب رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو، اور جب «سمع الله لمن حمده‏» کہے تو تم بھی «ربنا ولك الحمد‏» کہو، اور اگر وہ کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھے تو تم بھی کھڑے ہو کر نماز پڑھو، اور اگر بیٹھ کر پڑھے تو تم بھی بیٹھ کر پڑھو ۔
