سنن ابوداؤد

جس وقت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی صاحبزادی ( زینب رضی اللہ عنہا ) کا انتقال ہوا آپ ہمارے پاس آئے اور فرمایا: تم انہیں تین بار، یا پانچ بار پانی اور بیر کی پتی سے غسل دینا، یا اس سے زیادہ بار اگر ضرورت سمجھنا اور آخری بار کافور ملا لینا، اور جب غسل دے کر فارغ ہونا، مجھے اطلاع دینا، تو جب ہم غسل دے کر فارغ ہوئے تو ہم نے آپ کو خبر دی، آپ نے ہمیں اپنا تہہ بند دیا اور فرمایا: اسے ان کے بدن پر لپیٹ دو ۔ قعنبی کی روایت میں خالک سے مروی ہے یعنی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ازار کو۔ مسدد کی روایت میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ہمارے پاس آنے کا ذکر نہیں ہے۔

Narrated Umm Atiyyah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came in when his daughter died, and he said: Wash her with water and lotus leaves three or five times or more than that if you think fit, and put camphor, or some camphor in the last washing, then inform me when you finish. When we had finished we informed him, and he threw us his lower garment saying: Put it next to her body. Malik's version has: that is, his lower garment (izar); and Musaddad did not say: He entered in.

ہم نے ان کے سر کے بالوں کی تین لٹیں کر دیں۔

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Umm Atiyyah through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. This version adds: We braided her hair in three plaits.

ہم نے ان کے سر کے بالوں کی تین لٹیں گوندھ دیں اور انہیں سر کے پیچھے ڈال دیں، ایک لٹ آگے کے بالوں کی اور دو لٹیں ادھر ادھر کے بالوں کی۔

The above mentioned has also been transmitted by Umm Atiyyah through a different chain of narrators. This version has: we braided her hair in three plaits and placed them behind her back, one plait of the front side and the two side plaits.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان عورتوں سے اپنی بیٹی ( زینب رضی اللہ عنہا ) کے غسل کے متعلق فرمایا: ان کی داہنی جانب سے اور وضو کے مقامات سے غسل کی ابتداء کرنا ۔

Narrated Umm Atiyyah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to them while washing her daughter: Begin with her right side, and the places where the ablution is performed.

اور حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی حدیث میں جسے انہوں نے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت کیا ہے اسی طرح کا اضافہ ہے اور اس میں انہوں نے یہ اضافہ بھی کیا ہے: یا سات بار غسل دینا، یا اس سے زیادہ اگر تم اس کی ضرورت سمجھنا ۔

The above mentioned tradition has also been transmitted by Umm Atiyyah through a different chain of narrators. This version has: (Wash her) seven times or more if you think fit.

انہوں نے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے میت کو غسل دینے کا طریقہ سیکھا تھا، وہ دوبار بیری کے پانی سے غسل دیتے اور تیسری بار کافور ملے ہوئے پانی سے۔

Narrated Qatadah: Muhammad bin Sirin used to learn how to wash the dead from Umm Atiyyah: he would was with lotus leaves twice and with water and camphor for the third time.
