سنن ابوداؤد

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ( جمعہ کے دن ) دو خطبہ دیتے تھے وہ اس طرح کہ آپ منبر پر چڑھنے کے بعد بیٹھتے تھے یہاں تک کہ مؤذن فارغ ہو جاتا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوتے اور خطبہ دیتے، پھر ( تھوڑی دیر ) خاموش بیٹھتے پھر کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے۔

Ibn Umar said: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to deliver two sermons. He would sit down when he ascended the pulpit till he (I think he meant the muadhdhin) finished. He would then stand up and preach, then sit down and say nothing, then stand up and preach.
