سنن ابوداؤد

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ( جمعہ کے دن ) کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے تھے، پھر ( تھوڑی دیر ) بیٹھ جاتے، پھر کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے، لہٰذا جو تم سے یہ بیان کرے کہ آپ بیٹھ کر خطبہ دیتے تھے تو وہ غلط گو ہے، پھر انہوں نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں آپ کے ساتھ دو ہزار سے زیادہ نمازیں پڑھ چکا ہوں ۱؎۔

Jabir bin Samurah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to deliver the sermon standing, then he would sit down, then stand and preach standing. If anyone tells you he preached sitting, he is lying. I swear by Allah that I offered along with more than two thousand prayers.

( جمعہ کے دن ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے دو خطبے ہوتے تھے، ان دونوں خطبوں کے درمیان آپ ( تھوڑی دیر ) بیٹھتے تھے، ( خطبہ میں ) آپ قرآن پڑھتے اور لوگوں کو نصیحت کرتے تھے۔

Jabir bin Samurah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave two sermons between which he sat, recited the Quran and gave the people an exhortation.

میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے دیکھا پھر آپ تھوڑی دیر خاموش بیٹھتے تھے، اور راوی نے پوری حدیث بیان کی۔

Jabir bin Samurah said: I saw the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would deliver the sermon standing, then sit down without saying anything. The narrator then reported the tradition in full.
