سنن ابوداؤد

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to wash himself with a sa' (of water) and perform ablution with a mudd (of water). Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Aban on the authority of Qatadah. In this version he said: I herd safiyyah.

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک صاع سے غسل فرماتے اور ایک مد سے وضو کرتے تھے۔

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to take a bath with a sa' (of water) and perform ablution with a mudd (of water)

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے وضو کا ارادہ کیا تو آپ کے پاس پانی کا ایک برتن لایا گیا جس میں دو تہائی مد کے بقدر پانی تھا۔

Narrated Umm Umarah: Habib al-Ansari reported: I heard Abbad ibn Tamim who reported on the authority of my grandmother, Umm Umarah, saying: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم wanted to perform ablution. A vessel containing 2/3 mudd of water was brought to him.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایسے برتن سے وضو کرتے تھے جس میں دو رطل پانی آتا تھا، اور ایک صاع پانی سے غسل کرتے تھے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: یحییٰ بن آدم نے اسے شریک سے روایت کیا ہے مگر اس روایت میں ( عبداللہ بن جبر کے بجائے ) ابن جبر بن عتیک ہے، نیز سفیان نے بھی اسے عبداللہ بن عیسیٰ سے روایت کیا ہے اس میں «حدثني جبر بن عبد الله‏.‏» ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اور اسے شعبہ نے بھی روایت کیا ہے، اس میں «حدثني عبد الله بن عبد الله بن جبر سمعت أنسا» ہے، مگر فرق یہ ہے کہ انہوں نے «يتوضأ بإناء يسع رطلين» کے بجائے: «يتوضأ بمكوك» کہا ہے اور «رطلين» کا ذکر نہیں کیا ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: میں نے احمد بن حنبل کو کہتے سنا ہے کہ ایک صاع پانچ رطل کا ہوتا ہے، یہی ابن ابی ذئب کا صاع تھا اور یہی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا بھی صاع تھا۔

Anas reported: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم performed ablution with a vessel which contained two rotls (of water) and took a bath with a sa’ (of water). 1 Abu Dawud Said: This tradition has berated on the authority of Anas through a different chain. This version mentions: “He performed ablution with one makkuk. “It makes no mention of two rotls. 2 Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Yahya bin Adam from Sharik. But this chain mentions Ibn Jabr bin ‘Atik instead of ‘ Abdullah bin Jabr. Abu Dawud Said: This tradition has also been narrated by Sufyan from Abdullah bin ‘Isa. This chain mentions the name Jabr bin Abdullah instead of Abdullah bin Jabr. Abu Dawud Said: I heard Ahmad bin Hanbal say: one sa’ measures five rotls. It was the sa’ of Ibn Abi Dhi’b and also of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.
