سنن ابوداؤد

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وتر میں «سبح اسم ربك الأعلى» اور «قل للذين كفروا» ( یعنی«قل ياأيها الكافرون» ) اور «الله الواحد الصمد» ( یعنی «قل هو الله أحد» ) پڑھا کرتے تھے ۱؎۔

Narrated Ubayy ibn Kab: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to observe witr with (reciting) Glorify the name of thy Lord, the most High (Surah 87), Say O disbelievers (Surah 109), and Say, He is Allah, the One, Allah, the eternally besought of all (112).

میں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم وتر میں کون سی سورتیں پڑھتے تھے؟ پھر انہوں نے اسی مفہوم کی حدیث بیان کی، اور کہا تیسری رکعت میں آپ «قل هو الله أحد» اور معوذتین ( یعنی «قل اعوذ برب الفلق» اور «قل اعوذ برب الناس» ) پڑھتے تھے۔

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Abdul Aziz ibn Jurayj said: I asked Aishah, mother of the believers: With which (surah) the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to observe witr? (She reported same as in the Hadith of Ubayy ibn Kab, No. 1418) This version adds: In the third rak'ah he would recite: Say, He is Allah, the One (Surah 112), and Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak (Surah 113), and Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind (Surah 114).
