سنن ابوداؤد

میں ایک سفر میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اونٹ کی نکیل پکڑ کر چل رہا تھا، آپ نے فرمایا: عقبہ! کیا میں تمہیں دو بہترین سورتیں نہ سکھاؤں؟ ، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے «قل أعوذ برب الفلق» اور «قل أعوذ برب الناس» سکھائیں، لیکن آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے ان دونوں ( کے سیکھنے ) سے بہت زیادہ خوش ہوتے نہ پایا، چنانچہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فجر کے لیے ( سواری سے ) اترے تو لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی اور یہی دونوں سورتیں پڑھیں، پھر جب نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو میری طرف متوجہ ہو کر فرمایا: عقبہ! تم نے انہیں کیا سمجھا ہے ۱؎ ۔

Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir: I was driving the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم during a journey. He said to me: Uqbah, should I not teach you two best surahs ever recited? He then taught me: Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, and Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of men. He did not see me much pleased (by these two surahs). When he alighted for prayer, he led the people in the morning prayer and recited them in prayer. When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم finished his prayer, he turned to me and said: O Uqbah, how did you see.

میں حجفہ اور ابواء کے درمیان رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ چل رہا تھا کہ اسی دوران اچانک ہمیں تیز آندھی اور شدید تاریکی نے ڈھانپ لیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم «قل أعوذ برب الفلق» اور «قل أعوذ برب الناس» پڑھنے لگے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرما رہے تھے: اے عقبہ! تم بھی ان دونوں کو پڑھ کر پناہ مانگو، اس لیے کہ ان جیسی سورتوں کے ذریعہ پناہ مانگنے والے کی طرح کسی پناہ مانگنے والے نے پناہ نہیں مانگی ۔ عقبہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سنا آپ انہیں دونوں کے ذریعہ ہماری امامت فرما رہے تھے

Narrated Uqbah ibn Amir: White I was travelling with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم between al-Juhfah and al-Abwa', a wind and intense darkness enveloped us, whereupon the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم began to seek refuge in Allah, reciting: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, and I seek refuge in the Lord of men. He then said: Uqbah, use them when seeking refuge in Allah, for no one can use anything to compare with them for the purpose. Uqbah added: I heard him reciting them when he led the people in prayer.
