CHAPTER: Zakat For The Closing Of Fast At The End Of Ramadan.
Narrated Awf ibn Malik: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم entered upon us in the mosque, and he had a stick in his hand. A man hung there a bunch of hashaf. He struck the bunch with the stick, and said: If the owner of this sadaqah (alms) wishes to give a better one than it, he would give. The owner of this sadaqah will eat hashaf on the Day of Judgment.
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم prescribed the sadaqah (alms) relating to the breaking of the fast as a purification of the fasting from empty and obscene talk and as food for the poor. If anyone pays it before the prayer (ofEidd), it will be accepted as zakat. If anyone pays it after the prayer, that will be a sadaqah like other sadaqahs (alms).
