سنن ابوداؤد

کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک شخص سے پوچھا: کیا تم نے شعبان کے کچھ روزے رکھے ہیں ۱؎؟ ، جواب دیا: نہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب ( رمضان کے ) روزے رکھ چکو تو ایک روزہ اور رکھ لیا کرو ، ان دونوں میں کسی ایک راوی کی روایت میں ہے: دو روزے رکھ لیا کرو ۔

Narrated Imran bin Husain: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم asked a man: Did you fast the last day of Sha'ban ? He replied: No. He said: If you did not observe a fast, you must fast for a day. One of the two narrators said: For two days.

معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے دیر مسحل پر ( جو کہ حمص کے دروازے پر واقع ہے ) ، کھڑے ہو کر لوگوں سے کہا: لوگو! ہم نے چاند فلاں فلاں دن دیکھ لیا ہے اور میں سب سے پہلے روزہ رکھ رہا ہوں، جو شخص روزہ رکھنا چاہے رکھ لے، مالک بن ہبیرہ سبئی نے کھڑے ہو کر ان سے کہا: معاویہ! یہ بات آپ نے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سن کر کہی ہے، یا آپ کی اپنی رائے ہے؟ جواب دیا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا ہے: رمضان کے مہینے کے روزے رکھو اور آخر شعبان کے ۔

Narrated Muawiyah: Abul Azhar al-Mughirah ibn Farwah said: Muawiyah stood among the people at Dayr Mustahill lying at the gate of Hims. He said: O people, we sighted the moon on such-and-such day. We shall fast in advance. Anyone who likes to do so may do it. Malik ibn Hubayrah as-Saba'i stood up and asked: Muawiyah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say something (about this matter), or is this something on the basis of your opinion? He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Fast the month (in the beginning) and in the last.

ولید کہتے ہیں: میں نے ابوعمرو یعنی اوزاعی کو کہتے سنا ہے کہ «سرہ»کے معنی اوائل ماہ کے ہیں۔

Sulaiman bin Abdur-Rahman al-Dimashqi said about this tradition that al-Walid said: I heard Abu Amr al-Auzai say: The word sirrahu means beginning of the month.

سعید یعنی ابن عبدالعزیز کہتے ہیں «سره» کے معنی «أوله» کے ہیں۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: «سره» کے معنی کچھ لوگ «وسطه»کے بتاتے ہیں اور کچھ لوگ «آخره» کے۔

Narrated Ahmad bin Abd al-Wahid: On the authority of Abu Mushir. He said: Saeed, that is, Ibn Abd al-Aziz said: The meaning of the word sirraha is in the beginning of it (the month)
