سنن ابوداؤد

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جہاد دو طرح کے ہیں: رہا وہ شخص جس نے اللہ کی رضا مندی چاہی، امام کی اطاعت کی، اچھے سے اچھا مال خرچ کیا، ساتھی کے ساتھ نرمی اور محبت کی، اور جھگڑے فساد سے دور رہا تو اس کا سونا اور اس کا جاگنا سب باعث اجر ہے، اور جس نے اپنی بڑائی کے اظہار، دکھاوے اور شہرت طلبی کے لیے جہاد کیا، امام کی نافرمانی کی، اور زمین میں فساد مچایا تو ( اسے ثواب کیا ملنا ) وہ تو برابر برابر بھی نہیں لوٹا ۱؎ ۔

Narrated Muadh ibn Jabal: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Fighting is of two kinds: The one who seeks Allah's favour, obeys the leader, gives the property he values, treats his associates gently and avoids doing mischief, will have the reward for all the time whether he is asleep or awake; but the one who fights in a boasting spirit, for the sake of display and to gain a reputation, who disobeys the leader and does mischief in the earth will not return credit or without blame.

ایک شخص نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ایک شخص اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کا ارادہ رکھتا ہے اور وہ دنیاوی مال و منال چاہتا ہے؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس کے لیے کوئی اجر و ثواب نہیں ، لوگوں نے اسے بڑی بات سمجھی اور اس شخص سے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پھر پوچھو، شاید تم انہیں نہ سمجھا سکے ہو، اس شخص نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ایک شخص اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کا ارادہ رکھتا ہے اور وہ دنیاوی مال و اسباب چاہتا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس کے لیے کوئی اجر و ثواب نہیں ، لوگوں نے اس شخص سے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پھر پوچھو، اس نے آپ سے تیسری بار پوچھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پھر اس سے فرمایا: اس کے لیے کوئی اجر و ثواب نہیں ۔

Narrated Abu Hurairah: A man said: Messenger of Allah, a man wishes to take part in jihad in Allah's path desiring some worldly advantage? The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: He will have not reward. The people thought it terrible, and they said to the man: Go back to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, for you might not have made him understand well. He, therefore, (went and again) asked: Messenger of Allah, a man wishes to take part in jihad in Allah's path desiring some worldly advantage? He replied: There is no reward for him. They again said to the man: Return to the Messenger of Allah. He, therefore, said to him third time. He replied: There is no reward for him.
