نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب اپنے بستر پر تشریف لے جاتے تو یہ دعا پڑھتے: «اللهم رب السموات ورب الأرض ورب كل شيء فالق الحب والنوى منزل التوراة والإنجيل والقرآن العظيم أعوذ بك من شر كل دابة أنت آخذ بناصيتها أنت الأول فليس قبلك شيء وأنت الآخر فليس بعدك شيء وأنت الظاهر فليس فوقك شيء وأنت الباطن فليس دونك شيء اقض عني الدين وأغنني من الفقر» اے اللہ! آسمانوں اور زمین کے رب! ہر چیز کے رب! دانے اور گٹھلی کو پھاڑ کر پودا نکالنے والے! توراۃ، انجیل اور قرآن عظیم کو نازل کرنے والے! میں تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں زمین پر رینگنے والی ہر مخلوق کے شر و فساد سے، جس کی پیشانی تیرے ہاتھوں میں ہے، تو ہی سب سے پہلے ہے، تجھ سے پہلے کوئی نہیں تھا، اور تو ہی سب سے آخر ہے تیرے بعد کوئی نہیں، اور تو ہی ظاہر ہے تیرے اوپر کوئی نہیں، اور تو ہی باطن ہے تجھ سے ورے کوئی چیز نہیں، میرا قرض ادا کرا دے اور فقر و مسکنت سے مجھے آزاد کرا دے آسودہ حال بنا دے ) ۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that : when going to bed, the Prophet (saas) used to say: Allahumma Rabbas-samawati wa Rabbal-ardi, wa Rabba kulli shay'in, faliqal-habbi wan-nawa, munzilat-Tawrati wal-Injili wal-Qur'anil-'Azim. A'udhu bika min sharri kulli dabbatin Anta akhidhun binasiyatiha, Antal-Awwalu fa laysa qablaka shayun, wa Antal-Akhiru, fa laysa ba'daka shayun', Antaz-zahiru, fa laysa fawqaka shayun', wa antal-batinu fa laysa dunaka shay', aqdi 'annid-dayna waghnini minal-faqr (O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of all things, Cleaver of the seed and the kernel, Revealer of the Tawrah, the Injil and the Magnificent Qur'an, I seek refuge with You from the evil of every creature You seize by the forelock. You are the First and there is nothing before You; You are the Last and there is nothing after You; You are the Most High (Az-Zahir) and there is nothing above You, and You are the Most Near (Al-Batin) and there is nothing nearer than You. Settle my debt for me and spare me from poverty).

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم میں سے کوئی اپنے بستر پر لیٹنے کا ارادہ کرے تو اپنے تہبند کا داخلی کنارہ کھینچ کر اس سے اپنا بستر جھاڑے، اس لیے کہ اسے نہیں پتہ کہ ( جانے کے بعد ) بستر پر کون سی چیز پڑی ہے، پھر داہنی کروٹ لیٹے اور کہے: «رب بك وضعت جنبي وبك أرفعه فإن أمسكت نفسي فارحمها وإن أرسلتها فاحفظها بما حفظت به عبادك الصالحين» میرے رب! میں نے تیرا نام لے کر اپنا پہلو رکھا ہے، اور تیرے ہی نام پر اس کو اٹھاؤں گا، پھر اگر تو میری جان کو روک لے ( یعنی اب میں نہ جاگوں اور مر جاؤں ) تو اس پر رحم فرما، اور اگر تو چھوڑ دے ( اور میں جاگوں ) تو اس کی حفاظت فرما ان چیزوں کے ذریعہ جن سے تو نے اپنے نیک بندوں کی حفاظت فرماتا ہے ) ۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: When anyone of you wants to go to bed, let him undo the edge of his Izar (waist wrap) and dust of his bed with it, for he does not know what came to it after him. Then let him lie down on his right side and say: 'Rabbi bika wada'tu janbi wa bika arfa'uhu, fa in amsakta nafsi farhamha, wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima hafizta bihi 'ibadikaas-salihin (O Lord, by Your leave I lie down and by Your leave I rise, so if You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب اپنے بستر پر لیٹتے تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں میں پھونک مارتے، اور معوذتین: «قل أعوذ برب الفلق» و «قل أعوذ برب الناس» پڑھتے، اور انہیں اپنے جسم پر پھیر لیتے۔

It was narrated from 'Aishah that: whenever the Prophet (saas) went to bed, he would blow into his hands, recite Al-Mu'awwidhatain, then wipe his hands over his body.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک شخص سے فرمایا: جب تم سونے لگو یا اپنے بستر پر جاؤ تو یہ دعا پڑھا کرو: «اللهم أسلمت وجهي إليك وألجأت ظهري إليك وفوضت أمري إليك رغبة ورهبة إليك لا ملجأ ولا منجى منك إلا إليك آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت ونبيك الذي أرسلت» اے اللہ! میں نے اپنا چہرہ ( یعنی نفس ) تجھ کو سونپ دیا، اپنی پیٹھ تیرے سہارے پر لگا دی، اور اپنا کام تیرے سپرد کر دیا، امیدی ناامیدی کے ساتھ تیری ذات پر بھروسہ کیا، سوائے تیرے سوا کہیں اور کوئی جائے پناہ اور جائے نجات نہیں، میں تیری کتاب پر جسے تو نے نازل کیا، اور تیرے نبی پر جسے تو نے بھیجا ایمان لایا، پھر اگر تمہارا اس رات انتقال ہو گیا تو دین اسلام پر مرو گے، اور اگر تم نے صبح کی تو تم خیر کثیر کے ساتھ صبح کرو گے ۔

It was narrated from Bara' bin 'Azib that : the Prophet (saas) said to a man: When you go to lay down, or go to your bed, say: Allahumma aslamtu wajhi ilayka, wa al-ja'tu zahri ilayka, wa fawwadtu amri ilayka, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayka, la malja'a wa la manja'a minka illa ilayka, amantu bi kitabikal-ladhi anzalta, wa nabiyyikal arsalta [O Allah, I have submitted my face (i.e., myself) to You, and I am under Your command (i.e., I depend upon You in all my affairs), and I put my trust in You, hoping for Your reward and fearing Your punishment. There is no fleeing from You and no refuge from You except with You. I believe in Your Book that You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent).' Then if you die that night, you will die in a state of the Fitrah (nature), and if you wake in the morning you will wake with a great deal of good.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب بستر پر تشریف لے جاتے تو اپنا دایاں ہاتھ اپنے رخسار مبارک کے نیچے رکھتے، پھر ( یہ دعا ) پڑھتے: «اللهم قني عذابك يوم تبعث ( أو تجمع ) عبادك» اے اللہ! مجھ کو تو اپنے اس دن کے عذاب سے بچا جس دن تو اپنے بندوں کو اٹھائے گا یا جمع کرے گا ۔

It was narrated from 'Abdullah that: whenever the Prophet (saas) went to his bed, he would put his hand - meaning his right hand - beneath his cheek then say: Allahumma qini 'adhabaka yawm tab'athu - [or: tajma'u] - 'ibadaka (O Allah, save me from Your punishment on the Day when You resurrect - or gather - Your slaves).
