سنن ابن ماجہ

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جب تم جنازہ دیکھو تو کھڑے ہو جاؤ، یہاں تک کہ وہ تم سے آگے نکل جائے، یا رکھ دیا جائے ۔

It was narrated from ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “When you see a funeral (procession) stand up for it until it has passed by or it is placed on the ground.”

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے سے ایک جنازہ لے جایا گیا، تو آپ کھڑے ہو گئے اور فرمایا: کھڑے ہو جاؤ! اس لیے کہ موت کی ایک گھبراہٹ اور دہشت ہے ۔

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “A funeral has passed by the Prophet (ﷺ) and he stood up and said: ‘Stand up out of recognition of the enormity of death.’”

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک جنازہ کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے تو ہم بھی کھڑے ہوئے، پھر آپ بیٹھ گئے، تو ہم بھی بیٹھ گئے۔

It was narrated that ‘Ali bin Abu Talib said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up for a funeral, and we stood up, until he sat down, then we sat down.”

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب کسی جنازے کے پیچھے چلتے تو اس وقت تک نہ بیٹھتے جب تک کہ اسے قبر میں نہ رکھ دیا جاتا، ایک یہودی عالم آپ کے سامنے آیا، اور کہا: اے محمد! ہم بھی ایسے ہی کرتے ہیں تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بیٹھنا شروع کر دیا، اور فرمایا: ان کی مخالفت کرو ۱؎ ۔

It was narrated that ‘Ubadah bin Samit said: “When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) followed a funeral, he would not sit down until it had been placed in the niche-grave. A rabbi came to him and said: ‘This is what we do, O Muhammad!’ So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat down and said: ‘Be different from them.’”
