الفاظ ( اِفْكٌ )

اسے سنتے ہی مومن مردوں عورتوں نے اپنے حق میں نیک گمانی کیوں نہ کی اور کیوں نہ کہہ دیا کہ یہ تو کھلم کھلا صریح بہتان ہے ۔

Why, when you heard it, did not the believing men and believing women think good of one another and say, "This is an obvious falsehood"?

اور جب ان کے سامنے ہماری صاف صاف آیتیں پڑھی جاتی ہیں تو کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ایسا شخص ہے جو تمہیں تمہارے باپ دادا کے معبودوں سے روک دینا چاہتا ہے ( اس کے سوا کوئی بات نہیں ) ، اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو گھڑا ہوا جھوٹ ہے اور حق ان کے پاس آچکا پھر بھی کافر یہی کہتے رہے کہ یہ تو کھلا ہوا جادو ہے ۔

And when our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, they say, "This is not but a man who wishes to avert you from that which your fathers were worshipping." And they say, "This is not except a lie invented." And those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is not but obvious magic."

اور کافروں نے ایمانداروں کی نسبت کہا کہ اگر یہ ( دین ) بہتر ہوتا تو یہ لوگ اس کی طرف ہم سے سبقت کرنے نہ پاتے اور چونکہ انہوں نے اس قرآن سے ہدایت نہیں پائی پس یہ کہہ دیں گے کہ قدیمی جھوٹ ہے ۔

And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it." And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood."
