And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.
Hum ney aap say pehlay agli ummaton mein bhi apney rasool ( barabar ) bhejay.
और हम आपसे पहले गुज़री हुई क़ौमों में रसूल भेज चुके हैं।
And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.
Aur ( lekin ) jo bhi rasool aata woh uss ka mazaq uratay.
और जो रसूल भी उनके पास आया वह उसका मज़ाक़ उड़ाते रहे।
Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.
Gunehgaron kay dilon mein hum issi tarah yehi racha diya kertay hain.
इसी तरह हम यह (मज़ाक़) मुजरिमों के दिलों में डाल देते हैं।
They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.
Woh iss per eman nahi latay aur yaqeenan aglon ka tareeqa guzra hua hai.
वे उस पर ईमान नहीं लाएंगे और यह दस्तूर अगलों से होता आया है।
And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,
Aur agar hum inn per aasman ka darwaza khol bhi den aur yeh wahan charhney bhi lag jayen.
और अगर हम उन पर आसमान का कोई दरवाज़ा खोल देते जिस पर वे चढ़ने लगते।
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."
Tab bhi yehi kahen gay humari nazar bandi ker di gaee hai bulkay hum logon per jadoo ker diya gaya hai.
तब भी वे कह देते कि हमारी आँखों को धोखा हो रहा है; बल्कि हम पर तो जादू कर दिया गया है।
