کیا ان لوگوں کو اس بات سے تعجب ہوا کہ ہم نے ان میں سے ایک شخص کے پاس وحی بھیج دی کہ سب آدمیوں کو ڈرائیے اور جو ایمان لے آئے ان کو یہ خوشخبری سنائیے کہ ان کے رب کے پاس ان کو پورا اجر و مرتبہ ملے گا ۔ کافروں نے کہا کہ یہ شخص تو بلاشبہ صریح جادوگر ہے ۔

Have the people been amazed that We revealed [revelation] to a man from among them, [saying], "Warn mankind and give good tidings to those who believe that they will have a [firm] precedence of honor with their Lord"? [But] the disbelievers say, "Indeed, this is an obvious magician."

اور کافر کہتے ہیں کہ اس پر اس کے رب کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی ( معجزہ ) کیوں نہیں اتاری گئی ۔ بات یہ ہے کہ آپ تو صرف آگاہ کرنے والے ہیں اور ہر قوم کے لئے ہادی ہے ۔

And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and for every people is a guide.

لوگوں کے پاس ہدایت آچکنے کے بعد انہیں ایمان لانے اور اپنے رب سے استغفار کرنے سے صرف اسی چیز نے روکا کہ اگلے لوگوں کا سا معاملہ انہیں بھی پیش آئے یا ان کے سامنے کھلم کھلا عذاب آ موجود ہو جائے ۔

And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.

اسی طرح بے علم لوگوں نے بھی کہا کہ خود اللہ تعالٰی ہم سے باتیں کیوں نہیں کرتا ، یا ہمارے پاس کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں آتی ؟اسی طرح ایسی ہی بات ان کے اگلوں نے بھی کہی تھی ، ان کے اور ان کے دل یکساں ہوگئے ۔ ہم نے تو یقین والوں کے لئے نشانیاں بیان کر دیں ۔

Those who do not know say, "Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign?" Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith].

انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ نبی ہمارے پاس اپنے پروردگار کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں لایا؟ کیا ان کے پاس اگلی کتابوں کی واضح دلیل نہیں پہنچی؟

And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures?

اتنا ہی نہیں بلکہ یہ تو کہتے ہیں کہ یہ قرآن پراگندہ کن خوابوں کا مجموعہ ہے بلکہ اس نے از خود اسے گھڑ لیا ہے بلکہ یہ شاعر ہے ورنہ ہمارے سامنے یہ کوئی ایسی نشانی لاتے جیسے کہ اگلے پیغمبر بھیجے گئے تھے ۔

But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."

تو تو ہم جیسا ہی انسان ہے ۔ اگر تو سچوں سے ہے تو کوئی معجزہ لے آ ۔

You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ ان پر کوئی معجزہ کیوں نہیں نازل کیا گیا ان کے رب کی طرف سے آپ فرما دیجئے کہ اللہ تعالٰی کو بے شک پوری قدرت ہے اس پر کہ وہ معجزہ نازل فرما دے لیکن ان میں اکثر بے خبر ہیں ۔

And they say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Indeed, Allah is Able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know."
