جب کہ انہیں ان کے رب نے پاک میدان طویٰ میں پکارا ۔

When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,

۔ ( کہ ) تم فرعون کے پاس جاؤ اس نے سرکشی اختیار کر لی ہے ۔

"Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.

اس سے کہو کہ کیا تو اپنی درستگی اور اصلاح چاہتا ہے ۔

And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself

اور یہ کہ میں تجھے تیرے رب کی راہ دکھاؤں تاکہ تو ( اس سے ) ڈرنے لگے ۔

And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"

پس اسے بڑی نشانی دکھائی ۔

And he showed him the greatest sign,

تو اس نے جھٹلایا اور نافرمانی کی ۔

But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed.

پھر پلٹا دوڑ دھوپ کرتے ہوئے ۔

Then he turned his back, striving.

پھر سب کو جمع کر کے پکارا ۔

And he gathered [his people] and called out

تم سب کا رب میں ہی ہوں ۔

And said, "I am your most exalted lord."

تو ( سب سے بلند و بالا ) اللہ نے بھی اسے آخرت کے اور دنیا کے عذاب میں گرفتار کر لیا ۔

So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].

۔ ( یعنی ) ابراہیم اور موسیٰ کی کتابوں میں ۔

The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

اور فرعون کے ساتھ جو میخوں والا تھا ۔

And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -

ان سبھوں نے شہروں میں سر اٹھا رکھا تھا ۔

[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

اور بہت فساد مچا رکھا تھا ۔

And increased therein the corruption.

آخر تیرے رب نے ان سب پر عذاب کا کوڑا برسایا ۔

So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
