اور ان میں بعض ایسے ہیں آپ کی طرف کان لگائے بیٹھے ہیں کیا آپ بہروں کو سناتے ہیں گو ان کو سمجھ بھی نہ ہو؟

And among them are those who listen to you. But can you cause the deaf to hear, although they will not use reason?

ساتوں آسمان اور زمین اور جو بھی ان میں ہے اسی کی تسبیح کر رہے ہیں ۔ ایسی کوئی چیز نہیں جو اسے پاکیزگی اور تعریف کے ساتھ یاد نہ کرتی ہو ۔ ہاں یہ صحیح ہے کہ تم اس کی تسبیح سمجھ نہیں سکتے ۔ وہ بڑا برد بار اور بخشنے والا ہے ۔

The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [ Allah ] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.

اس سے بڑھ کر ظالم کون ہے؟ جسے اس کے رب کی آیتوں سے نصیحت کی جائے وہ پھر بھی منہ موڑے رہے اور جو کچھ اس کے ہاتھوں نے آگے بھیج رکھا ہے اسے بھول جائے ، بیشک ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال دیئے ہیں کہ وہ اسے ( نہ ) سمجھیں اور ان کے کانوں میں گرانی ہے ، گو تو انہیں ہدایت کی طرف بلاتا رہے ، لیکن یہ کبھی بھی ہدایت نہیں پانے کے ۔

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance - they will never be guided, then - ever.

ان کی مثال اس شخص کی سی ہے جس نے آگ جلائی پس آس پاس کی چیزیں روشنی میں آئی ہی تھیں کہ اللہ ان کے نور کو لے گیا اور انہیں اندھیروں میں چھوڑ دیا ، جو نہیں دیکھتے ۔

Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see.

اور یہ بھی کہ ہم انہیں زمین میں قدرت و اختیار دیں اور فرعون اور ہامان اور ان کے لشکروں کو وہ دکھائیں جس سے وہ ڈر رہے ہیں ۔

And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.

اور اگر آپ ان سے سوال کریں کہ آسمان سے پانی اتار کر زمین کو اس کی موت کے بعد زندہ کس نے کیا؟ تو یقیناً ان کا جواب یہی ہوگا اللہ تعالٰی نے ۔ آپ کہہ د یں کہ ہر تعریف اللہ ہی کے لئے سزاوار ہے بلکہ ان میں سےاکثر بے عقل ہیں ۔

And if you asked them, "Who sends down rain from the sky and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness?" they would surely say " Allah ." Say, "Praise to Allah "; but most of them do not reason.

تم جہاں کہیں بھی ہو موت تمہیں آ پکڑے گی ، گو تم مضبوط قلعوں میں ہو اور اگر انہیں کوئی بھلائی ملتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ یہ اللہ تعالٰی کی طرف سے ہے اور اگر کوئی برائی پہنچتی ہے تو کہہ اٹھتے ہیں کہ یہ تیری طرف سے ہے انہیں کہہ دو کہ یہ سب کچھ اللہ تعالٰی کی طرف سے ہے انہیں کیا ہوگیا ہے کہ کوئی بات سمجھنے کے بھی قریب نہیں ۔

Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction. But if good comes to them, they say, "This is from Allah "; and if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you." Say, "All [things] are from Allah ." So what is [the matter] with those people that they can hardly understand any statement?

اور جب تم نماز کے لئے پکارتے ہو تو وہ اسے ہنسی کھیل ٹھرا لیتے ہیں یہ اس واسطے کہ بے عقل ہیں ۔

And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

اور ان میں بعض ایسے ہیں کہ آپ کی طرف کان لگاتے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر پردہ ڈال رکھا ہے اس سے کہ وہ اس کو سمجھیں اور ان کے کانوں میں ڈاٹ دے رکھی ہے اور اگر وہ لوگ تمام دلائل کو دیکھ لیں تو بھی ان پر کبھی ایمان نہ لائیں یہاں تک کہ جب یہ لوگ آپ کے پاس آتے ہیں تو آپ سے خواہ مخواہ جھگڑتے ہیں یہ لوگ جو کافر ہیں یوں کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو کچھ بھی نہیں صرف بے سند باتیں ہیں جو پہلوں سے چلی آرہی ہیں ۔

And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples."

یہ اس سبب سے ہے کہ یہ ایمان لا کر پھر کافر ہوگئے پس ان کے دلوں پر مہر کر دی گئی ۔ اب یہ نہیں سمجھتے ۔

That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand.

اور ہم نے ایسے بہت سے جن اور انسان دوزخ کے لئے پیدا کئے ہیں جن کے دل ایسے ہیں جن سے نہیں سمجھتے اور جن کی آنکھیں ایسی ہیں جن سے نہیں دیکھتے اور جن کے کان ایسے ہیں جن سے نہیں سنتے ۔ یہ لوگ چوپاؤں کی طرح ہیں بلکہ یہ ان سے بھی زیادہ گمراہ ہیں یہی لوگ غافل ہیں ۔

And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless.
