In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Shuroo Allah kay naam say jo bara meharban nehayat reham kerney wala hai
अल्लाह के नाम से जो बड़ा कृपालु और अत्यन्त दयावान है।
I swear by this city, Makkah -
Mein iss sher ki qasam khata hun
सुनो! मैं क़सम खाता हूँ इस नगर (मक्का) की -
And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city -
aur ap is sher mein muqeem hein
हाल यह है कि तुम इसी नगर में रह रहे हो -
And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],
aur ( qasam hy ) insani bap aur olad ki
और बाप और उस की सन्तान की,
We have certainly created man into hardship.
Yaqeenan hum ney insan ko ( bari ) mushaqat mein paida kia hy
निस्संदेह हम ने मनुष्य को पूर्ण मशक़्क़त (अनुकूलता और सन्तुलन) के साथ पैदा किया
Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?
kiya yeh guman kerta hy kay yeh kisis kay bas mein hi nai?
क्या वह समझता है कि उस पर किसी का बस न चलेगा?
He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."
khyta ( phirta ) hy ky mein ney to bohat kuch maal khrch ker dala
कहता है कि "मैंने ढेरो माल उड़ा दिया।"
Does he think that no one has seen him?
kiya ( yun ) samjhta hy ky kisi nay ussy dekha ( hi ) nahi?
क्या वह समझता है कि किसी ने उसे देखा नहीं?
Have We not made for him two eyes?
kiya hum nay uski do ankhein nahi banain
क्या हम ने उसे नहीं दी दो आँखें,
And a tongue and two lips?
aur zaban aur hunt ( nahi banaey )
और एक ज़बान और दो होंठ?
And have shown him the two ways?
hum nay dekha diy usko dono rasty
और क्या ऐसा नहीं है कि हम ने दिखाई उसे दो ऊँचाइयाँ?
But he has not broken through the difficult pass.
So issy na hosakha kay ghatti mein dakhil hota
किन्तु वह तो हुमक कर घाटी में से गुज़र ही नहीं और (न उस ने मुक्ति का मार्ग पाया)
And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
Aur kiya samjha ky ghatti hy kiya?
और तुम्हें क्या मालूम कि वह घाटी क्या है!
It is the freeing of a slave
Kisi garden ( gulam londi ) ko azad kerna
किसी गरदन का छुड़ाना
Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
ya bhok waly din khana khilana
या भूख के दिन खाना खिलाना
An orphan of near relationship
Kisi reshtydar yateem ko
किसी निकटवर्ती अनाथ को,
Or a needy person in misery
Ya khahsaar miskeen ko
या धूल-धूसरित मुहताज को;
And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
Phir unlogon mein say hojata jo iman laey aur ik dosry ko sabar ki aurreham kerney ki wasiyat kerty hein
फिर यह कि वह उन लोगों में से हो जो ईमान लाए और जिन्होंने एक-दूसरे को धैर्य की ताकीद की , और एक-दूसरे को दया की ताकीद की
Those are the companions of the right.
Yehi log hein daein bazo waly ( khushbakhti waly )
वही लोग हैं सौभाग्यशाली
But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.
Aur jin logon nay humari aayaton kay sath kufur kiya yeh kam-bakhti waly hain
रहे वे लोग जिन्होंने हमारी आयातों का इनकार किया, वे दुर्भाग्यशाली लोग हैं
Over them will be fire closed in.
Inn hi per aag hogi jo charo taraf say gheri hoi hogi
उन पर आग होगी, जिसे बन्द कर दिया गया होगा
