In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Shuroo Allah kay naam say jo bara meharban nehayat reham kerney wala hai
अल्लाह के नाम से जो बड़ा कृपालु और अत्यन्त दयावान है।
By the night when it covers
Qasam hai raat ki jab cha jaey
साक्षी है रात जबकि वह छा जाए,
And [by] the day when it appears
Aur qasam hai din ki jab roshan ho
और दिन जबकि वह प्रकाशमान हो,
And [by] He who created the male and female,
Aur qasam hai uss zaat ki jiss nay nar-o-mada ko peda kiya
और नर और मादा का पैदा करना,
Indeed, your efforts are diverse.
Yaqeenan tumhari koshish mukhtalif qisim ki hai
कि तुम्हारा प्रयास भिन्न-भिन्न है
As for he who gives and fears Allah
Jiss nay diya ( Allah ki rah mein ) aur dara ( apnay rab say )
तो जिस किसी ने दिया और डर रखा,
And believes in the best [reward],
Aur nek baat ki tasdeq kerta rahega
और अच्छी चीज़ की पुष्टि की,
We will ease him toward ease.
To hum bhi usko aasan rasty ki saholat dein gay
हम उस सहज ढंग से उस चीज का पात्र बना देंगे, जो सहज और मृदुल (सुख-साध्य) है
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need
Lekin jiss nay bakheel ki aur beparwai barti
रहा वह व्यक्ति जिस ने कंजूसी की और बेपरवाही बरती,
And denies the best [reward],
Aur nek baat ki takzeeb ki
और अच्छी चीज़ को झुठला दिया,
We will ease him toward difficulty.
To hum bhi uski tangi-o-mushkil kay saman mayuser kerdein gay
हम उसे सहज ढंग से उस चीज़ का पात्र बना देंगे, जो कठिन चीज़ (कष्ट-साध्य) है
And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?
Uska maal ussy ( ondha ) giraney kay waqat kuch kam na ay ga
और उस का माल उस के कुछ काम न आएगा, जब वह (सिर के बल) खड्ड में गिरेगा
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.
Be-shak raah dikha dena himaray zimmay hai
निस्संदेह हमारे ज़िम्मे है मार्ग दिखाना
And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
Aur humary hi hath akhrat aurduniya hai
और वास्तव में हमारे अधिकार में है आख़िरत और दुनिया भी
So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.
Mein nay to tumhein sholay marti hui aag say dara diya hai
अतः मैंने तुम्हें दहकती आग से सावधान कर दिया
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.
Jiss mein sirf wo hi badbakht dakhil hoga
इसमें बस वही पड़ेगा जो बड़ा ही अभागा होगा,
Who had denied and turned away.
Jiss nay jhutlaya aur ( uski perwi say ) mun pher liya
जिस ने झुठलाया और मुँह फेरा
But the righteous one will avoid it -
Aur iss say assa shaks dor rakha jaey ga jo bara perhezgar hoga
और उस से बच जाएगा वह अत्यन्त परहेज़गार व्यक्ति,
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself
Jo paaki hasil kernay kay liey apna maal deta hai
जो अपना माल देकर अपने आप को निखारता है
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded
Kissi ka uss per koi ehsan nahi kay jiss ka badla diya jaraha ho
और हाल यह है कि किसी का उस पर उपकार नहीं कि उस का बदला दिया जा रहा हो,
But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.
bulkay sirf apnay perwardigar buzruk-o-buland ki raza chahnay kay liey
बल्कि इससे अभीष्ट केवल उस के अपने उच्च रब के मुख (प्रसन्नता) की चाह है
And he is going to be satisfied.
Yaqeenan wo ( Allah bhi ) un qareeb raza mand hojaeyga
और वह शीघ्र ही राज़ी हो जाएगा
