الفاظ ( يَرْجِعُوْنَ )

بہرے گونگے اندھے ہیں ۔ پس وہ نہیں لوٹتے ۔

Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return [to the right path].

اور اہلِ کتاب کی ایک جماعت نے کہا جو کچھ ایمان والوں پر اُتارا گیا ہے اس پر دن چڑھے تو ایمان لاؤ اور شام کے وقت کافر بن جاؤ ، تاکہ یہ لوگ بھی پلٹ جائیں ۔

And a faction of the People of the Scripture say [to each other], "Believe in that which was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day and reject it at its end that perhaps they will abandon their religion,

اور ہم نے دنیا میں ان کی مختلف جماعتیں کردیں ۔ بعض ان میں نیک تھے اور بعض ان میں اور طرح کے تھے اور ہم ان کو خوش حالیوں اور بد حالیوں سے آزماتے رہے کہ شاید باز آجائیں ۔

And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience].

ہم اسی طرح آیات کو صاف صاف بیان کرتے ہیں اور تاکہ وہ باز آجائیں ۔

And thus do We [explain in] detail the verses, and perhaps they will return.

اپنے خدمت گاروں سے کہا کہ ان کی پونجی انہی کی بوریوں میں رکھ دو کہ جب لوٹ کر اپنے اہل و عیال میں جائیں اور پونجیوں کو پہچان لیں تو بہت ممکن ہے کہ پھر لوٹ کر آئیں ۔

And [Joseph] said to his servants, "Put their merchandise into their saddlebags so they might recognize it when they have gone back to their people that perhaps they will [again] return."

پس اس نےان سب کے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دئیے ہاں صرف بڑے بت کو چھوڑ دیا یہ بھی اس لئے کہ وہ سب اس کی طرف ہی لوٹیں ۔

So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].

اور جس بستی کو ہم نے ہلاک کر دیا اس پر لازم ہے کہ وہاں کے لوگ پلٹ کر نہیں آئیں گے ۔

And there is prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return

میرے اس خط کو لے جاکر انہیں دے دے پھر ان کے پاس سے ہٹ آ اور دیکھ کہ وہ کیا جواب دیتے ہیں ۔

Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return."

خشکی اور تری میں لوگوں کی بد اعمالیوں کے باعث فساد پھیل گیا ۔ اس لئے کہ انہیں ان کے بعض کرتوتوں کا پھل اللہ تعالٰی چکھا دے ( بہت ) ممکن ہے کہ وہ باز آجائیں ۔

Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].

بالیقین ہم انہیں قریب کے چھوٹے سے بعض عذاب اس بڑے عذاب کے سوا چکھائیں گے تاکہ وہ لوٹ آئیں ۔

And we will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will repent.

کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ان کے پہلے بہت سی قوموں کو ہم نے غارت کر دیا کہ وہ ان کی طرف لوٹ کر نہیں آئیں گے ۔

Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them will not return?

اس وقت نہ تو یہ وصیت کر سکیں گے اور نہ اپنے اہل کی طرف لوٹ سکیں گے ۔

And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو ان کی جگہ ہی پر ان کی صورتیں مسخ کر دیتے پھرنہ وہ چل پھر سکتے اور نہ لوٹ سکتے ۔

And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

اور ( ابراہیم علیہ السلام ) اسی کو اپنی اولاد میں بھی باقی رہنے والی بات قائم کر گئے تاکہ لوگ ( شرک سے ) باز آتے رہیں ۔

And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].

اور ہم انہیں جو نشانی دکھاتے تھے وہ دوسری سے بڑھی چڑھی ہوتی تھی اور ہم نے انہیں عذاب میں پکڑا تاکہ وہ باز آ جائیں ۔

And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].

اور یقیناً ہم نے تمہارے آس پاس کی بستیاں تباہ کر دیں اور طرح طرح کی ہم نے اپنی نشانیاں بیان کر دیں تاکہ وہ رجوع کرلیں ۔

And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief].
