ثمودیوں نے بھی پیغمبروں کو جھٹلایا ۔

Thamud denied the messengers

ان کے بھائی صالح نے ان سےفرمایا کہ کیا تم اللہ سے نہیں ڈرتے؟

When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah ?

میں تمہاری طرف اللہ کا امانت دار پیغمبر ہوں ۔

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

تو تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میرا کہا ؎کرو ۔

So fear Allah and obey me.

میں اس پر تم سے کوئی اجرت نہیں مانگتا ، میری اجرت تو بس پروردگار عالم پر ہی ہے ۔

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

کیا ان چیزوں میں جو یہاں ہیں تم امن کے ساتھ چھوڑ دیئے جاؤ گے ۔

Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],

یعنی ان باغوں اور ان چشموں ۔

Within gardens and springs

اور ان کھیتوں اور ان کھجوروں کے باغوں میں جن کے شگوفے نرم و نازک ہیں ۔

And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

اور تم پہاڑوں کو تراش تراش کر پر تکلف مکانات بنا رہے ہو ۔

And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.

پس اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو ۔

So fear Allah and obey me.

بے باک حد سے گزر جانے والوں کی اطاعت سے باز آجاؤ ۔

And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

جو ملک میں فساد پھیلا رہے ہیں اور اصلاح نہیں کرتے ۔

Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

وہ بولے کہ بس تو ان میں سے ہے جن پر جادو کر دیا گیا ہے ۔

They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

تو تو ہم جیسا ہی انسان ہے ۔ اگر تو سچوں سے ہے تو کوئی معجزہ لے آ ۔

You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

آپ نے فرمایا یہ ہے اونٹنی پانی پینے کی ایک باری اس کی اور ایک مقررہ دن کی باری پانی پینے کی تمہاری ۔

He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.

۔ ( خبر دار! ) اسے برائی سے ہاتھ نہ لگانا ورنہ ایک بڑے بھاری دن کا عذاب تمہاری گرفت کر لے گا ۔

And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

پھر بھی انہوں نے اس کی کوچیں کاٹ ڈالیں بس وہ پشیمان ہوگئے ۔

But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

اور عذاب نے انہیں آدبوچا بیشک اس میں عبرت ہے ۔ اور ان میں سےاکثر لوگ مومن نہ تھے ۔

And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

یقیناً ہم نے ثمود کی طرف ان کے بھائی صالح کو بھیجا کہ تم سب اللہ کی عبادت کرو پھر بھی وہ دو فریق بن کر آپس میں لڑنے جھگڑنے لگے ۔

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah ," and at once they were two parties conflicting.

آپ نے فرمایا اے میری قوم کے لوگو! تم نیکی سے پہلے برائی کی جلدی کیوں مچا رہے ہو ؟ تم اللہ تعالٰی سے استغفار کیوں نہیں کرتے تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے ۔

He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"

وہ کہنے لگے ہم تو تیری اور تیرے ساتھیوں کی بد شگونی لے رہے ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا تمہاری بد شگونی اللہ کے ہاں ہے ، بلکہ تم فتنے میں پڑے ہوئے لوگ ہو ۔

They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah . Rather, you are a people being tested."

اس شہر میں نو سردار تھے جو زمین میں فساد پھیلاتے رہتے تھے اور اصلاح نہیں کرتے تھے ۔

And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs].

انہوں نے آپس میں بڑی قسمیں کھا کھاکر عہد کیا کہ رات ہی کو صالح اور اس کے گھر والوں پر ہم چھاپہ ماریں گے اور اس کے وارثوں سے صاف کہہ دیں گے کہ ہم اس کے اہل کی ہلاکت کے وقت موجود نہ تھے اور ہم بالکل سچے ہیں ۔

They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.' "

انہوں نے مکر ( خفیہ تدبیر ) کیا اور ہم نے بھی اور وہ اسے سمجھتے ہی نہ تھے ۔

And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not.

۔ ( اب ) دیکھ لے ان کے مکر کا انجام کیسا کچھ ہو ا ؟ کہ ہم نے ان کو اور ان کی قوم کو سب کو غارت کردیا ۔

Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all.

یہ ہیں ان کے مکانات جو ان کے ظلم کی وجہ سے اجڑے پڑے ہیں ، جو لوگ علم رکھتے ہیں ان کے لئے اس میں بڑی نشانی ہے ۔

So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know.

ہم نے ان کو جو ایمان لائے تھے اور پرہیزگار تھے بال بال بچالیا ۔

And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah .

اور ہم نے عادیوں اور ثمودیوں کو بھی غارت کیا جن کے بعض مکانات تمہارے سامنے ظاہر ہیں اور شیطان نے انہیں انکی بد اعمالیاں آراستہ کر دکھائی تھیں اور انہیں راہ سے روک دیا تھا باوجودیکہ یہ آنکھوں والے اور ہوشیار تھے ۔

And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception.

ان کے پاس جب ان کے آگے پیچھے سے پیغمبر آئے کہ تم اللہ کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرو تو انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ اگر ہمارا پروردگار چاہتا تو فرشتوں کو بھیجتا ۔ ہم تو تمہاری رسالت کے بالکل منکر ہیں ۔

[That occurred] when the messengers had come to them before them and after them, [saying], "Worship not except Allah ." They said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down the angels, so indeed we, in that with which you have been sent, are disbelievers."

رہے قوم ثمود ، سو ہم نے ان کی بھی راہبری کی پھر بھی انہوں نے ہدایت پر اندھے پن کو ترجیح دی جس بنا پر انہیں ( سراپا ) ذلت کے عذاب ، کی کڑک نے ان کے کرتوتوں کے باعث پکڑ لیا ۔

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
