اور نیز اسماعیل کو اور یسع کو اور یونس کو اور لوط کو اور ہر ایک کو تمام جہان والوں پر ہم نے فضیلت دی ۔

And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.

اور نیز ان کے کچھ باپ دادوں کو اور کچھ اولاد کو اور کچھ بھائیوں کو اور ہم نے ان کو مقبول بنایا اور ہم نے ان کو راہ راست کی ہدایت کی ۔

And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers - and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path.

چنا نچہ کوئی بستی ایمان نہ لائی کہ ایمان لانا اس کو نافع ہوتا سوائے یونس ( علیہ السلام ) کی قوم کے جب وہ ایمان لے آئے تو ہم نے رسوائی کے عذاب کو دنیاوی زندگی میں ان پر سے ٹال دیا اور ان کو ایک وقت ( خاص ) تک کے لئے زندگی سے فائدہ اٹھانے ( کا موقع ) دیا ۔

Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment for a time.

مچھلی والے ( حضرت یونس علیہ السلام ) کو یاد کرو! جبکہ وہ غصہ سے چل دیا اور خیال کیا کہ ہم اسے نہ پکڑ سکیں گے ۔ بلآخر وہ اندھیروں کے اندر سے پکار اٹھا کہ الٰہی تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں تو پاک ہے بیشک میں ظالموں میں ہوگیا ۔

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

اب ابراہیم ( علیہ السلام ) نے ایک نگاہ ستاروں کی طرف اٹھائی ۔

And he cast a look at the stars

اور بلاشبہ یونس ( علیہ السلام ) نبیوں میں سے تھے ۔

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

جب بھاگ کر پہنچے بھری کشتی پر ۔

[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

پھر قرعہ اندازی ہوئی تو یہ مغلوب ہوگئے ۔

And he drew lots and was among the losers.

تو پھر انہیں مچھلی نے نگل لیا اور وہ خود اپنے آپ کو ملامت کرنے لگ گئے ۔

Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.

پس اگر یہ پاکی بیان کرنے والوں میں سے نہ ہوتے ۔

And had he not been of those who exalt Allah ,

تو لوگوں کے اٹھائے جانے کے دن تک اس کے پیٹ میں ہی رہتے ۔

He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.

پس انہیں ہم نے چٹیل میدان میں ڈال دیا اور وہ اس وقت بیمار تھے ۔

But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.

اور ان پر سایہ کرنے والا ایک بیل دار درخت ہم نے اگا دیا ۔

And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.

اور ہم نے انہیں ایک لاکھ بلکہ اور زیادہ آدمیوں کی طرف بھیجا ۔

And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.

پس وہ ایمان لائے اور ہم نے انہیں ایک زمانہ تک عیش و عشرت دی ۔

And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.

بس تو اپنے رب کے حکم کا صبر سے ( انتظار کر ) اور مچھلی والے کی طرح نہ ہو جا جب کہ اس نے غم کی حالت میں دعا کی ۔

Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed.

اگر اسے اس کے رب کی نعمت نہ پالیتی تو یقیناً وہ برے حالوں میں چٹیل میدان میں ڈال دیا جاتا ۔

If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured.

اس کے رب نے پھر نوازا اور اسے نیک کاروں میں کر دیا ۔

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

اُن لوگوں کی راہ جن پر تو نے انعام کیا ۔

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor

ان کی نہیں جن پر غضب کیا گیا اور نہ گمراہوں کی ۔

not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

اے ہمارے رب !ہمیں اپنا فرمانبردار بنا لے اور ہماری اولاد میں سے بھی ایک جماعت کو اپنی اطاعت گزار رکھ اور ہمیں اپنی عبادتیں سکھا اور ہماری توبہ قبول فرما تُو توبہ قبول فرمانے والا اور رحم و کرم کرنے والا ہے ۔

Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.

اے ہمارے رب !ان میں انہیں میں سے رسول بھیج جو ان کے پاس تیری آیتیں پڑھے ، انہیں کتاب و حکمت سکھائے اور انہیں پاک کرے یقیناً تو غلبے والا اور حکمت والا ہے ۔

Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

دین ابراہیمی سے وہ ہی بے رغبتی کرے گا جو محض بیوقوف ہو ، ہم نے تو اسے دنیا میں بھی برگزیدہ کیا تھا اور آخرت میں بھی وہ نیکو کاروں میں سے ہے ۔

And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.

جب کبھی بھی انہیں ان کے رب نے کہا ، فرمانبردار ہو جا ، انہوں نے کہا ، میں نے رب العالمین کی فرمانبرداری کی ۔

When his Lord said to him, "Submit", he said "I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds."

اس کی وصیت ابراہیم اور یعقوب نے اپنی اولاد کو کی ، کہ ہمارے بچو! اللہ تعالٰی نے تمہارے لئے اس دین کو پسند فرما لیا ، خبردار! تم مسلمان ہی مرنا ۔

And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims."

یہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہود و نصاریٰ بن جاؤ تو ہدایت پاؤ گے ۔ تم کہو بلکہ صحیح راہ پر ملت ابراہیمی والے ہیں ، اور ابراہیم خالص اللہ کے پرستار تھے اور مُشرک نہ تھے ۔

They say, "Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided." Say, "Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists."

اے مسلمانوں! تم سب کہو کہ ہم اللہ پر ایمان لائے اور اس چیز پر بھی جو ہماری طرف اتاری گئی اور جو چیز ابراہیم ، اسماعیل اسحاق اور یعقوب علیہم السلام اور ان کی اولاد پر اتاری گئی اور جو کچھ اللہ کی جانب سے موسیٰ اور عیسیٰ ( علیہ السلام ) اور دوسرے انبیاء ( علیہ السلام ) دیئے گئے ۔ ہم اُن میں سے کسی کے درمیان فرق نہیں کرتے ، ہم اللہ کے فرمانبردار ہیں ۔

Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

اگر وہ تم جیسا ایمان لائیں تو ہدایت پائیں ، اور اگر منہ موڑیں تو وہ صریح اختلاف میں ہیں ، اللہ تعالٰی ان سے عنقریب آپ کی کفایت کرے اور وہ خوب سننے اور جاننے والا ہے ۔

So if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been [rightly] guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

بیشک اللہ تعالٰی کے نزدیک دین اسلام ہی ہے اور اہل کتاب اپنے پاس علم آجانے کے بعد آپس کی سرکشی اور حسد کی بناء پر ہی اختلاف کیا ہے اور اللہ تعالٰی کی آیتوں کے ساتھ جو بھی کفر کرے اللہ تعالٰی اس کا جلد حساب لینے والا ہے ۔

Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah , then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account.

پھر بھی اگر یہ آپ سے جھگڑیں تو آپ کہہ دیں کہ میں اور میرے تابعداروں نے اللہ تعالٰی کے سامنے اپنا سر تسلیم خم کر دیا ہے اور اہل کتاب سے اور ان پڑھ لوگوں سے کہہ دیجئے! کہ کیا تم بھی اطاعت کرتے ہو؟ پس اگر یہ بھی تابعدار بن جائیں تو یقیناً ہدایت والے ہیں اور اگر یہ روگردانی کریں ، تو آپ پر صرف پہنچا دینا ہے اور اللہ بندوں کو خوب دیکھ بھال رہا ہے ۔

So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away - then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants.
