الفاظ ( الْكِتٰبَ )

ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب دی اور اسے بنی اسرئیل کے لئے ہدایت بنا دیا کہ تم میرے سوا کسی کو اپنا کارساز نہ بنانا ۔

And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel that you not take other than Me as Disposer of affairs,

تمام تعریفیں اسی اللہ کے لئے سزاوار ہیں جس نے اپنے بندے پر یہ قرآن اتارا اور اس میں کوئی کسر باقی نہ چھوڑی ۔

[All] praise is [due] to Allah , who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance.

اے یحیی! میری کتاب کو مضبوطی سے تھام لے اور ہم نے اسے لڑکپن ہی سے دانائی عطا فرما دی ۔

[ Allah ] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy

بچہ بول اٹھا کہ میں اللہ تعالٰی کا بندہ ہوں ۔ اس نے مجھے کتاب عطا فرمائی اور مجھے اپنا پیغمبر بنایا ہے ۔

[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

ہم نے توموسیٰ ( علیہ السلام ) کو کتاب ( بھی ) دی کہ لوگ راہ راست پر آجائیں ۔

And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided.

اور ان لوگوں کو پاک دامن رہنا چاہیے جو اپنا نکاح کرنے کا مقدور نہیں رکھتے یہاں تک کہ اللہ تعالٰی انہیں اپنے فضل سے مالدار بنا دے ، تمہارے غلاموں میں سے جو کوئی کچھ تمہیں دے کر آزادی کی تحریر کرانی چاہے تو تم ایسی تحریر انہیں کر دیا کرو اگر تم کو ان میں کوئی بھلائی نظر آتی ہو اور اللہ نے جو مال تمہیں دے رکھا ہے اس میں سے انہیں بھی دو ، تمہاری جو لونڈیاں پاک دامن رہنا چاہتی ہیں انہیں دنیا کی زندگی کے فائدے کی غرض سے بدکاری پر مجبور نہ کرو اور جو انہیں مجبور کر دے تو اللہ تعالٰی ان پر جبر کے بعد بخش دینے والا اور مہربانی کرنے والا ہے ۔

But let them who find not [the means for] marriage abstain [from sexual relations] until Allah enriches them from His bounty. And those who seek a contract [for eventual emancipation] from among whom your right hands possess - then make a contract with them if you know there is within them goodness and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you. And do not compel your slave girls to prostitution, if they desire chastity, to seek [thereby] the temporary interests of worldly life. And if someone should compel them, then indeed, Allah is [to them], after their compulsion, Forgiving and Merciful.

اور بلاشبہ ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب دی اور ان کے ہمراہ ان کے بھائی ہارون کو ان کا وزیر بنا دیا ۔

And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant.

اور ان اگلے زمانے والوں کو ہلاک کرنے کے بعد ہم نے موسیٰ ( علیہ السلام ) کو ایسی کتاب عنایت فرمائی جو لوگوں کے لئے دلیل اور ہدایت و رحمت ہو کر آئی تھی تاکہ وہ نصیحت حاصل کرلیں ۔

And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded.

جس کو ہم نے اس سے پہلے کتاب عنایت فرمائی وہ تو اس پر بھی ایمان رکھتے ہیں ۔

Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it.

اور ہم نے اسی طرح آپ کی طرف اپنی کتاب نازل فرمائی ہے ، پس جنہیں ہم نے کتاب دی ہے وہ اس پر ایمان لاتے ہیں اور ان ( مشرکین ) میں سے بعض اس پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور ہماری آیتوں کا انکار صرف کافر ہی کرتے ہیں ۔

And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it. And among these [people of Makkah] are those who believe in it. And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.

اور ہم نے اسی طرح آپ کی طرف اپنی کتاب نازل فرمائی ہے ، پس جنہیں ہم نے کتاب دی ہے وہ اس پر ایمان لاتے ہیں اور ان ( مشرکین ) میں سے بعض اس پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور ہماری آیتوں کا انکار صرف کافر ہی کرتے ہیں ۔

And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it. And among these [people of Makkah] are those who believe in it. And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers.

کیا انہیں یہ کافی نہیں؟ کہ ہم نے آپ پر کتاب نازل فرمادی جو ان پر پڑھی جا رہی ہے ، اس میں رحمت ( بھی ) ہے اور نصیحت ( بھی ) ہے ان لوگوں کے لئے جو ایمان لاتے ہیں ۔

And is it not sufficient for them that We revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Indeed in that is a mercy and reminder for a people who believe.

بیشک ہم نے موسیٰ کو کتاب دی ، پس آپ کو ہرگز اس کی ملاقات میں شک نہ کرنا چاہیے اور ہم نے اسے بنی اسرائیل کی ہدایت کا ذریعہ بنایا ۔

And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture, so do not be in doubt over his meeting. And we made the Torah guidance for the Children of Israel.

پھر ہم نے ان لوگوں کو ( اس ) کتاب کا وارث بنایا جن کو ہم نے اپنے بندوں میں سے پسند فرمایا ۔ پھر بعضے تو ان میں اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کرنے والے ہیں اور بعضے ان میں متوسط درجے کے ہیں اور بعضے ان میں اللہ کی توفیق سے نیکیوں میں ترقی کئے چلے جاتے ہیں یہ بڑا فضل ہے ۔

Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah . That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.

اور ہم نے انہیں ( واضح اور ) روشن کتاب دی ۔

And We gave them the explicit Scripture,

یقیناً ہم نے اس کتاب کو آپ کی طرف حق کے ساتھ نازل فرمایا ہے پس آپ اللہ ہی کی عبادت کریں ، اسی کے لئے دین کو خالص کرتے ہوئے ۔

Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book, [O Muhammad], in truth. So worship Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion.

آپ پر ہم نے حق کے ساتھ یہ کتاب لوگوں کے لئے نازل فرمائی ہے پس جو شخص راہ راست پر آجائے اس کے اپنے لئے نفع ہے اور جو گمراہ ہو جائے اس کی گمراہی کا ( وبال ) اسی پر ہے آپ ان کے ذمہ دار نہیں ۔

Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So whoever is guided - it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager over them.

ہم نے موسیٰ ( علیہ السلام ) کو ہدایت نامہ عطا فرمایا اور بنو اسرائیل کو اس کتاب کا وارث بنایا ۔

And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture

یقیناً ہم نے موسیٰ ( علیہ السلام ) کو کتاب دی تھی ، سو اس میں بھی اختلاف کیا گیا اور اگر ( وہ ) بات نہ ہوتی ( جو ) آپ کے رب کی طرف سے پہلے ہی مقرر ہو چکی ہے تو ان کے درمیان ( کبھی کا ) فیصلہ ہو چکا ہوتا یہ لوگ تو اسکے بارے میں سخت بے چین کرنے والے شک میں ہیں ۔

And We had already given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt.

ان لوگوں نے اپنے پاس علم آجانے کے بعد ہی اختلاف کیا اور وہ بھی باہمی ضد بحث سے اور اگر آپ کے رب کی بات ایک وقت مقرر تک کے لئے پہلے ہی سے قرار پا گئی نہ ہوئی ہوتی تو یقیناً ان کا فیصلہ ہو چکا ہوتا اور جن لوگوں کو ان کے بعد کتاب دی گئی ہے وہ بھی اس کی طرف سے الجھن والے شک میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں ۔

And they did not become divided until after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord [postponing the penalty] until a specified time, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, those who were granted inheritance of the Scripture after them are, concerning it, in disquieting doubt.

اللہ تعالٰی نے حق کے ساتھ کتاب نازل فرمائی ہے اور ترازو بھی ( اتاری ہے ) اور آپ کو کیا خبر شاید قیامت قریب ہی ہو ۔

It is Allah who has sent down the Book in truth and [also] the balance. And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.

یقیناً ہم نے بنی اسرائیل کو کتاب ، حکومت اور نبوت دی تھی اور ہم نے انہیں پاکیزہ ( اور نفیس ) روزیاں دی تھیں اور انہیں دنیا والوں پر فضیلت دی تھی ۔

And We did certainly give the Children of Israel the Scripture and judgement and prophethood, and We provided them with good things and preferred them over the worlds.

کیا اب تک ایمان والوں کے لئے وقت نہیں آیا کہ ان کے دل ذکر الٰہی سے اور جو حق اتر چکا ہے اس سے نرم ہوجائیں اور ان کی طرح نہ ہوجائیں جنہیں ان سے پہلے کتاب دی گئی تھی پھر جب ان پر ایک زمانہ دراز گزر گیا تو ان کے دل سخت ہوگئے اور ان میں بہت سے فاسق ہیں ۔

Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.

یقیناً ہم نے اپنے پیغمبروں کو کھلی دلیلیں دے کر بھیجا اور ان کے ساتھ کتاب اور میزان ( ترازو ) نازل فرمایا تاکہ لوگ عدل پر قائم رہیں اور ہم نے لوہے کو اتارا جس میں سخت ہیبت و قوت ہے اور لوگوں کے لئے اور بھی بہت سے فائدے ہیں اور اس لئے بھی کہ اللہ جان لے کہ اس کی اور اس کے رسولوں کی مدد بے دیکھے کون کرتا ہے بےشک اللہ قوت والا ز اوربردست ہے ۔

We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

وہی ہے جس نے ناخواندہ لوگوں میں ان ہی میں سے ایک رسول بھیجا جو انہیں اس کی آیتیں پڑھ کر سناتا ہے اور ان کو پاک کرتا ہے اور انہیں کتاب و حکمت سکھاتا ہے ۔ یقیناً یہ اس سے پہلے کھلی گمراہی میں تھے ۔

It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom - although they were before in clear error -

ہم نے دوزخ کے داروغے صرف فرشتے رکھے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کی تعداد صرف کافروں کی آزمائش کے لئے مقرر کی ہے تاکہ اہل کتاب یقین کرلیں اور اہل ایمان کے ایمان اور اضافہ ہو جائے اور اہل کتاب اور اہل ایمان شک نہ کریں اور جن کے دلوں میں بیماری ہے وہ اور کافر کہیں کہ اس بیان سے اللہ تعالٰی کی کیا مراد ہے؟ اس طرح اللہ تعالٰی جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہ کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت دیتا ہے تیرے رب کے لشکروں کو اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا یہ تو کل بنی آدم کے لیے سراسر پندونصیحت ہے ۔

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

ہم نے دوزخ کے داروغے صرف فرشتے رکھے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کی تعداد صرف کافروں کی آزمائش کے لئے مقرر کی ہے تاکہ اہل کتاب یقین کرلیں اور اہل ایمان کے ایمان اور اضافہ ہو جائے اور اہل کتاب اور اہل ایمان شک نہ کریں اور جن کے دلوں میں بیماری ہے وہ اور کافر کہیں کہ اس بیان سے اللہ تعالٰی کی کیا مراد ہے؟ اس طرح اللہ تعالٰی جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہ کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت دیتا ہے تیرے رب کے لشکروں کو اس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا یہ تو کل بنی آدم کے لیے سراسر پندونصیحت ہے ۔

اہل کتاب اپنے پاس ظاہر دلیل آ جانے کے بعد ہی ( اختلاف میں پڑ کر ) متفرق ہوگئے ۔

Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
