In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Shuroo Allah kay naam say jo bara meharban nehayat reham kerney wala hai
अल्लाह के नाम से जो बड़ा कृपालु और अत्यन्त दयावान है।
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen
Aik sawal kernay walay ney uss azab ka swal kiya jo wazeh honay wala hay
एक माँगने वाले ने घटित होने वाली यातना माँगी,
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.
Kafiron per jissay koi hatanay wala nahi
जो इनकार करने वालो के लिए होगी, उसे कोई टालने वाला नहीं,
[It is] from Allah , owner of the ways of ascent.
Uss Allah ki taraf say jo seerhiyon wala hay
वह अल्लाह की ओर से होगी, जो चढ़ाव के सोपानों का स्वामी है
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
Jiss ki taraf farishtay aur rooh charhtay hein aik din mein jiss ki miqdaar pachas hazar saal ki hay
फ़रिश्ते और रूह (जिबरील) उस की ओर चढ़ते हैं, उस दिन में जिस की अवधि पचास हज़ार वर्ष है
So be patient with gracious patience.
Pus to achi tarah sabar ker
अतः धैर्य से काम लो, उत्तम धैर्य
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
Beshak yeh uss ( azab ) ko door samajh rahe hein
वे उसे बहुत दूर देख रहे हैं,
But We see it [as] near.
Hum issay qareeb hi dekhatay hein
किन्तु हम उसे निकट देख रहे हैं
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,
Jiss din aasman misil tel ki talchat kay hojayega
जिस दिन आकाश तेल की तलछट जैसा काला हो जाएगा,
And the mountains will be like wool,
Aur pohaar misil rangeen oon kay hojey gay
और पर्वत रंग-बिरंगे ऊन के सदृश हो जाएँगे
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
Aur koi dost kissi dost ko na poochay ga
कोई मित्र किसी मित्र को न पूछेगा,
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children
( Halankay ) aik doosray ko dikha diye jaeyen gay gunehgar uss din kay azab kay badlay fidye mein apney beton ko
हालाँकि वे एक-दूसरे को दिखाए जाएँगे। अपराधी चाहेगा कि किसी प्रकार वह उस दिन की यातना से छूटने के लिए अपने बेटों,
And his wife and his brother
Apni biwi ko aur apney bhai ko
अपनी पत्नी , अपने भाई
And his nearest kindred who shelter him
Aur apney kunbay ko jo issay panah deta tha
और अपने उस परिवार को जो उसको आश्रय देता है,
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
Aur roy e zameen kay sab logon ko dena chahyega takay yeh ussay nijat dilaye
और उन सभी लोगों को जो धरती में रहते हैं, फ़िदया (मुक्ति-प्रतिदान) के रूप में दे डाले फिर वह उस को छुटकारा दिला दे
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
Mager hergiz yeh na hoga yaqeenan wo shoal wali ( aag ) hai
कदापि नहीं! वह लपट मारती हुई आग है,
A remover of exteriors.
Jo mun aur sar ki khal khench lynay wali hay
जो मांस और त्वचा को चाट जाएगी,
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
Wo her us shaks ko pukaray gi jo pechay hata aur mun morta hay
उस व्यक्ति को बुलाती है जिस ने पीठ फेरी और मुँह मोड़ा,
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
Aur jama ker kay samnbhal rakhta hay
और (धन) एकत्र किया और सैंत कर रखा
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
Beshak insan baray kachy dil wala banaya gaya hay
निस्संदेह मनुष्य अधीर पैदा हुआ है
When evil touches him, impatient,
Jab is say musibat puhanchti hay to har bara uthta hay
जि उसे तकलीफ़ पहुँचती है तो घबरा उठता है,
And when good touches him, withholding [of it],
aur jab rahat milti hay to bukhul kernay lagta hay
किन्तु जब उसे सम्पन्नता प्राप्त होती ही तो वह कृपणता दिखाता है
Except the observers of prayer -
Mager wo namazi
किन्तु नमाज़ अदा करने वालों की बात और है,
Those who are constant in their prayer
J apnai namaz per hameshagi kernay walay hein
जो अपनी नमाज़ पर सदैव जमें रहते हैं,
And those within whose wealth is a known right
Aur jin kay maalon mein mukarra hisa hay
और जिन के मालों में
For the petitioner and the deprived -
Mangnay walon ka bhi aur sawal say bachnay walon ka bhi
माँगने वालों और वंचित का एक ज्ञात और निश्चित हक़ होता है,
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense
Aur jo insaf kay din per yaqeen rakhtay hein
जो बदले के दिन को सत्य मानते हैं,
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -
Aur jo apney rab kay azab say dertay rehtay hein
जो अपने रब की यातना से डरते हैं -
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -
Beshak un kay rab ka azab bekhof honay ki chez nahi
उन के रब की यातना है ही ऐसी जिस से निश्चिन्त न रहा जाए -
And those who guard their private parts
Aur jo log apni sharm gahon ki ( haram say ) hifazat kertay hein
जो अपने गुप्तांगों की रक्षा करते हैं।
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -
Han unki biwion aur londion kay bary mein jin kay wo malik hein.unhein koi malamat nahi.
अपनी पत्नियों या जो उन की मिल्क में हो उन के अतिरिक्त दूसरों से तो इस बात पर उन की कोई भर्त्सना नही। -
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -
Ab jo koi is kay ilawa ( rah ) dhonday ga to asay log had say guzar janay walay hongay
किन्तु जिस किसी ने इस के अतिरिक्त कुछ और चाहा तो ऐसे ही लोग सीमा का उल्लंघन करने वाले हैं।-
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive
Aur jo apni amanton ka aur apney qol o qarar ka pass rakhtay hein
जो अपने पास रखी गई अमानतों और अपनी प्रतिज्ञा का निर्वाह करते हैं,
And those who are in their testimonies upright
Aur jo apni gawahion per sidhay aur qaim rehtay hein
जो अपनी गवाहियों पर क़़ायम रहते हैं,
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:
Aur jo apni namazon ki hifazat kertay hein
और जो अपनी नमाज़ की रक्षा करते हैं
They will be in gardens, honored.
Yehi log janton mein izat walay hongay
वही लोग जन्नतों में सम्मानपूर्वक रहेंगे
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],
Pus kafoiron ko kia hogaya hay kay wo teri taraf dortay atay hein
फिर उन इनकार करने वालो को क्या हुआ है कि वे तुम्हारी ओर दौड़े चले आ रहे हैं?
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?
Daein aur baein say giroh kay giroh
दाएँ और बाएँ से गिरोह के गिरोह
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?
Kia in mein say her ik ki tawaqa yeh hay kay wo nematon wali janat mein dakhil kia jaey ga?
क्या उन में से प्रत्येक व्यक्ति इस की लालसा रखता है कि वह अनुकम्पा से परिपूर्ण जन्नत में प्रविष्ट हो?
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.
( aisa ) hergiz nahi ho ga hum ney unhein is ( chez ) say paida kia hay jiss say wo jantay hein
कदापि नहीं, हम ने उन्हें उस चीज़ से पैदा किया है, जिसे वे भली-भाँति जानते हैं
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able
Pus mujhy qasam hay mashrikon aur maghribon kay rab ki ( kay ) hum yaqeenan qadir hein
अतः कुछ नहीं, मैं क़सम खाता हूँ पूर्वों और पश्चिमों के रब की, हमे इस की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त है
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.
Is per kay in kay ewaz in say achay log lay ayein aur hum aajiz nahi hein
कि उन की जगह उन से अच्छे ले आएँ और हम पिछड़ जाने वाले नहीं हैं
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -
Pus to inhein jagherta khelata chor day yahan ytak kay yeh apney us din say jamilein jis ka un say wada kia jata hay
अतः उन्हें छोड़ो कि वे व्यर्थ बातों में पड़े रहें और खेलते रहे, यहाँ तक कि वे अपने उस दिन से मिलें, जिस का उन से वादा किया जा रहा हैं,
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.
Jis din yeh qabron say dortay hoy niklein gay goya kay wo kisi jaga ki taraf tez tez jarahy hein
जिस दिन वे क़ब्रों से तेज़ी के साथ निकलेंगे जैसे किसी निशान की ओर दौड़े जा रहे हैं,
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
In ki ankhein jhoki hoi hongi in per zilat charahi hon gi yeh hay wo din jis ka un say wada kia jata tha
उन की निगाहें झुकी होंगी, ज़िल्लत उन पर छा रही होगी। यह है वह दिन जिस से वह डराए जाते रहे हैं
