جب اللہ تعالٰی نے نبیوں سے عہد لیا کہ جو کچھ میں تمہیں کتاب و حکمت سے دوں پھر تمہارے پاس وہ رسول آئے جو تمہارے پاس کی چیز کو سچ بتائے تو تمہارے لئے اس پر ایمان لانا اور اس کی مدد کرنا ضروری ہے ۔ فرمایا کہ تم اس کے اقراری ہو اور اس پر میرا ذمّہ لے رہے ہو؟ سب نے کہا کہ ہمیں اقرار ہے ، فرمایا تو اب گواہ رہو اور خود میں بھی تمہارے ساتھ گواہوں میں ہوں ۔

And [recall, O People of the Scripture], when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], "Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you, you [must] believe in him and support him." [ Allah ] said, "Have you acknowledged and taken upon that My commitment?" They said, "We have acknowledged it." He said, "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."

تم بہترین امت ہو جو لوگوں کے لئے پیدا کی گئی ہے کہ تم نیک باتوں کا حکم کرتے ہو اور بری باتوں سے روکتے ہو ، اور اللہ تعالٰی پر ایمان رکھتے ہو ، اگر اہلِ کتاب بھی ایمان لاتے تو ان کے لئے بہتر تھا ، ان میں ایمان لانے والے بھی ہیں لیکن اکثر تو فاسق ہیں ۔

You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah . If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.

اگر اللہ تعالٰی کا فضل و رحم تجھ پر نہ ہوتا تو ان کی ایک جماعت نے تو تجھے بہکانے کا قصد کر ہی لیا تھا مگر دراصل یہ اپنے آپ کو ہی گمراہ کرتے ہیں یہ تیرا کچھ نہیں بگاڑ سکتے اللہ تعالٰی نے تجھ پر کتاب و حکمت اتاری ہے اور تجھے وہ سکھایا ہے جسے تو نہیں جانتا تھااور اللہ تعالٰی کا تجھ پر بڑا بھاری فضل ہے ۔

And if it was not for the favor of Allah upon you, [O Muhammad], and His mercy, a group of them would have determined to mislead you. But they do not mislead except themselves, and they will not harm you at all. And Allah has revealed to you the Book and wisdom and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of Allah upon you been great.

پاک ہے وہ اللہ تعالٰی جو اپنے بندے کو رات ہی رات میں مسجد حرام سے مسجد اقصیٰ تک لے گیا جس کے آس پاس ہم نے برکت دے رکھی ہے اس لئے کہ ہم اسے اپنی قدرت کے بعض نمونے دکھائیں یقیناً اللہ تعالٰی ہی خوب سننے دیکھنے والا ہے ۔

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

رات کے کچھ حصے میں تہجد کی نماز میں قرآن کی تلاوت کریں یہ زیادتی آپ کے لئے ہے عنقریب آپ کا رب آپ کو مقام محمود میں کھڑا کرے گا ۔

And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.

بہت بابرکت ہے وہ اللہ تعالٰی جس نے اپنے بندے پر فرقان اتارا تاکہ وہ تمام لوگوں کے لئے آگاہ کرنے والا بن جائے ۔

Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner -

ہم نے تو آپ کو خوشخبری اور ڈر سنانے والا ( نبی ) بنا کر بھیجا ہے ۔

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

۔ ( لوگو! ) تمہارے مردوں میں کسی کے باپ محمد ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) نہیں لیکن آپ اللہ تعالٰی کے رسول ہیں اور تمام نبیوں کے ختم کرنے والے اور اللہ تعالٰی ہرچیز کا بخوبی جاننے والا ہے ۔

Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah , of all things, Knowing.

اے نبی! یقیناً ہم نے ہی آپ کو ( رسول بنا کر ) گواہیاں دینے والا خوشخبریاں سنانے والا آگاہ کرنے والا بھیجا ہے ۔

O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a warner.

اور اللہ کے حکم سے اس کی طرف بلانے والا اور روشن چراغ ۔

And one who invites to Allah , by His permission, and an illuminating lamp.

اللہ تعالٰی اور اس کے فرشتے اس نبی پر رحمت بھیجتے ہیں ۔ اے ایمان والو! تم ( بھی ) ان پر درود بھیجو اور خوب سلام ( بھی ) بھیجتے رہا کرو ۔

Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.

اسے پوری طاقت والے فرشتے نے سکھایا ہے ۔

Taught to him by one intense in strength -

جو زور آور ہے پھر وہ سیدھا کھڑا ہوگیا ۔

One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form

اور وہ بلند آسمان کے کناروں پر تھا ۔

While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.

پھر نزدیک ہوا اور اتر آیا ۔

Then he approached and descended

پس وہ دو کمانوں کے بقدر فاصلہ پر رہ گیا بلکہ اس سے بھی کم ۔

And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.

پس اس نے اللہ کے بندے کو وحی پہنچائی جو بھی پہنچا ئی ۔

And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed.

دل نے جھوٹ نہیں کہا جسے ( پیغمبر نے ) دیکھا ۔

The heart did not lie [about] what it saw.

کیا تم جھگڑا کرتے ہو اس پر جو ( پیغمبر ) دیکھتے ہیں ۔

So will you dispute with him over what he saw?

اسے تو ایک مرتبہ اور بھی دیکھا تھا ۔

And he certainly saw him in another descent

سدرۃ المنتہیٰ کے پاس ۔

At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -

اسی کے پاس جنت الماویٰ ہے ۔

Near it is the Garden of Refuge -

جب کہ سدرہ کو چھپائے لیتی تھی وہ چیز جو اس پر چھا رہی تھی ۔

When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].

نہ تو نگاہ بہکی نہ حد سے بڑھی ۔

The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].

یقیناً اس نے اپنے رب کی بڑی بڑی نشانیوں میں سے بعض نشانیاں دیکھ لیں ۔

He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.

قسم ہے چاشت کے وقت کی ۔

By the morning brightness

قسم ہے رات کی جب چھا جائے ۔

And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,

نہ تو تیرے رب نے تجھے چھوڑا ہے اور نہ وہ بیزار ہوگیا ہے ۔

Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].

یقیناً تیرے لئے انجام آغاز سے بہتر ہوگا ۔

And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].

تجھے تیرا رب بہت جلد ( انعام ) دے گا اور تو راضی ( و خوش ) ہو جائے گا ۔

And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
