الفاظ ( كَانُوْا )

ان کی چاہتوں اور ان کے درمیان پردہ حائل کر دیا گیا جیسے کہ اس سے پہلے بھی ان جیسوں کے ساتھ کیا گیا وہ بھی ( انہی کی طرح ) شک و تردد میں ( پڑے ہوئے ) تھے ۔

And prevention will be placed between them and what they desire, as was done with their kind before. Indeed, they were in disquieting denial.

۔ ( ایسے ) بندوں پر افسوس! کبھی بھی کوئی رسول ان کے پاس نہیں آیا جس کی ہنسی انہوں نے نہ اڑائی ہو ۔

How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

اور ان کے پاس تو ان کے رب کی نشانیوں میں سے کوئی نشانی ایسی نہیں آتی جس سے یہ بے رخی نہ برتتے ہوں ۔

And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.

ہم آج کے دن ان کے منہ پر مہر لگا دیں گے اور ان کے ہاتھ ہم سے باتیں کریں گے اور ان کے پاؤں گواہیاں دیں گے ، ان کاموں کی جو وہ کرتے تھے ۔

That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

ظالموں کو اور ان کے ہمراہیوں کو اور ( جن ) جن کی وہ اللہ کے علاوہ پرستش کرتے تھے ۔

[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

کفار تو کہا کرتے تھے ۔

And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,

اور اللہ تعالٰی نے انہیں زندگانی دنیا میں رسوائی کا مزہ چکھایا اور ابھی آخرت کا تو بڑا بھاری عذاب ہے کاش کہ یہ لوگ سمجھ لیں ۔

So Allah made them taste disgrace in worldly life. But the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

تاکہ اللہ تعالٰی ان سے ان کے برے عملوں کو دور کر دے اور جو نیک کام انہوں نے کئیے ہیں ان کا اچھا بدلہ عطا فرمائے ۔

That Allah may remove from them the worst of what they did and reward them their due for the best of what they used to do.

کیا ان لوگوں نے اللہ تعالٰی کے سوا ( اوروں کو ) سفارشی مقرر کر رکھا ہے؟ آپ کہہ دیجئے! کہ گو وہ کچھ بھی اختیار نہ رکھتے ہوں اور نہ عقل رکھتے ہوں ۔

Or have they taken other than Allah as intercessors? Say, "Even though they do not possess [power over] anything, nor do they reason?"

آپ کہہ دیجئے! کہ اے اللہ! آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے چھپے کھلے کو جاننے والے تو ہی اپنے بندوں میں ان امور کا فیصلہ فرمائے گا جن میں وہ الجھ رہے تھے ۔

Say, "O Allah , Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You will judge between your servants concerning that over which they used to differ."

جو کچھ انہوں نے کیا تھا اس کی برائیاں ان پر کھل پڑیں گی اور جس کا وہ مذاق کرتے تھے وہ انہیں آگھیرے گا ۔

And there will appear to them the evils they had earned, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

ان سے اگلے بھی یہی بات کہہ چکے ہیں پس ان کی کاروائی ان کے کچھ کام نہ آئی ۔

Those before them had already said it, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.

کیا یہ لوگ زمین میں چلے پھرے نہیں کہ دیکھتے کہ جو لوگ ان سے پہلے تھے ان کا نتیجہ کیسا کچھ ہوا؟ وہ با عتبار قوت و طاقت کے اور باعتبار زمین میں اپنی یادگاروں کے ان سے بہت زیادہ تھے ، پس اللہ نے انہیں ان گناہوں پر پکڑ لیا اور کوئی نہ ہوا جو انہیں اللہ کے عذاب سے بچا لیتا ۔

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector.

کیا یہ لوگ زمین میں چلے پھرے نہیں کہ دیکھتے کہ جو لوگ ان سے پہلے تھے ان کا نتیجہ کیسا کچھ ہوا؟ وہ با عتبار قوت و طاقت کے اور باعتبار زمین میں اپنی یادگاروں کے ان سے بہت زیادہ تھے ، پس اللہ نے انہیں ان گناہوں پر پکڑ لیا اور کوئی نہ ہوا جو انہیں اللہ کے عذاب سے بچا لیتا ۔

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector.

اسی طرح وہ لوگ بھی پھیرے جاتے رہے جو اللہ کی آیتوں کا انکار کرتے تھے ۔

Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of Allah .

کیا انہوں نے زمین میں چل پھر کر اپنے سے پہلوں کا انجام نہیں دیکھا؟ جو ان سے تعداد میں زیادہ تھے قوت میں سخت اور زمین میں بہت ساری یادگاریں چھوڑی تھیں ان کے کئے کاموں نے انہیں کچھ بھی فائدہ نہ پہنچایا ۔

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.

پس جب کبھی ان کے پاس ان کے رسول کھلی نشانیاں لے کر آئے تو یہ اپنے پاس کے علم پر اترانے لگے بالآخر جس چیز کو مذاق میں اڑا رہے تھے وہی ان پر الٹ پڑی ۔

And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

رہے قوم ثمود ، سو ہم نے ان کی بھی راہبری کی پھر بھی انہوں نے ہدایت پر اندھے پن کو ترجیح دی جس بنا پر انہیں ( سراپا ) ذلت کے عذاب ، کی کڑک نے ان کے کرتوتوں کے باعث پکڑ لیا ۔

And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.

یہاں تک کہ جب بالکل جہنم کے پاس آجائیں گے ان پر ان کے کان اور ان کی آنکھیں اور ان کی کھالیں ان کے اعمال کی گواہی دیں گی ۔

Until, when they reach it, their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do.

اور ہم نے ان کے کچھ ہم نشین مقرر کر رکھے تھے جنہوں نے ان کے اگلے پچھلے اعمال ان کی نگاہوں میں خوبصورت بنا رکھے تھے اور ان کے حق میں بھی اللہ کا قول ان امتوں کے ساتھ پورا ہوا جو ان سے پہلے جنوں اور انسانوں کی گزر چکی ہیں ۔ یقیناًوہ زیاں کار ثابت ہوئے ۔

And We appointed for them companions who made attractive to them what was before them and what was behind them [of sin], and the word has come into effect upon them among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.

پس یقیناً ہم ان کافروں کو سخت عذاب کا مزہ چکھائیں گے ۔ اور انہیں ان کے بدترین اعمال کا بدلہ ( ضرور ) ضرور دیں گے ۔

But We will surely cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe punishment, and We will surely recompense them for the worst of what they had been doing.

اللہ کے دشمنوں کی سزا یہی دوزخ کی آگ ہے جس میں ان کا ہمیشگی کا گھر ہے ( یہ ) بدلہ ہے ہماری آیتوں سے انکار کرنے کا ۔

That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah - the Fire. For them therein is the home of eternity as recompense for what they, of Our verses, were rejecting.

اور یہ جن ( جن ) کی پرستش اس سے پہلے کرتے تھے وہ ان کی نگاہ سے گم ہوگئے اور انہوں نے سمجھ لیا کہ اب ان کے لئے کوئی بچاؤ نہیں ۔

And lost from them will be those they were invoking before, and they will be certain that they have no place of escape.

جو نبی ان کے پاس آیا انہوں نے اس کا مذاق اُڑایا ۔

But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.

اس نے اپنی قوم کو بہلایا پھسلایا اور انہوں نے اسی کی مان لی یقیناً یہ سارے ہی نافرمان لوگ تھے ۔

So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allah ].

اور ہم نے ان پر ظلم نہیں کیا بلکہ یہ خود ہی ظالم تھے ۔

And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.

اور وہ آرام کی چیزیں جن میں عیش کر رہے تھے ۔

And comfort wherein they were amused.

سو ان پر نہ تو آسمان و زمین روئے اور نہ انہیں مہلت ملی ۔

And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.

کیا یہ لوگ بہتر ہیں یا تبع کی قوم کے لوگ اور جو ان سے بھی پہلے تھے ۔ ہم نے ان سب کو ہلاک کر دیا یقیناً وہ گنہگار تھے ۔

Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals.

آپ ایمان والوں سے کہہ دیں کہ وہ ان لوگوں سے درگزر کریں جو اللہ کے دنوں کی توقع نہیں رکھتے ، تاکہ اللہ تعالٰی ایک قوم کو ان کے کرتوتوں کا بدلہ دے ۔

Say, [O Muhammad], to those who have believed that they [should] forgive those who expect not the days of Allah so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn.

اور ہم نے انہیں دین کی صاف صاف دلیلیں دیں پھر انہوں نے اپنے پاس علم کے پہنچ جانے کے بعد آپس کی ضد بحث سے ہی اختلاف برپا کر ڈالا یہ جن جن چیزوں میں اختلاف کر رہے ہیں ان کا فیصلہ قیامت والے دن ان کے درمیان ( خود ) تیرا رب کرے گا ۔

And We gave them clear proofs of the matter [of religion]. And they did not differ except after knowledge had come to them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.

اور ان پر اپنے اعمال کی برائیاں کھل گئیں اور جس کا وہ مذاق اڑا رہے تھے اس نے انہیں گھیر لیا ۔

And the evil consequences of what they did will appear to them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

اور جب لوگوں کو جمع کیا جائے گا تو یہ ان کے دشمن ہوجائیں گے اور ان کی پرستش سے صاف انکار کر جائیں گے ۔

And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship.

یہ تو اہل جنت ہیں جو سدا اسی میں رہیں گے ، ان اعمال کے بدلے جو وہ کیا کرتے تھے ۔

Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do.

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے نیک اعمال تو ہم قبول فرما لیتے ہیں اور جن کے بد اعمال سے درگزر کر لیتے ہیں ( یہ ) جنتی لوگوں میں ہیں ۔ اس سچے وعدے کے مطابق جو ان سے کیا جاتا ہے ۔

Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.

وہ لوگ ہیں جن پر ( اللہ کے عذاب کا ) وعدہ صادق آگیا ان جنات اور انسانوں کے گروہوں کے ساتھ جو ان سے پہلے گزر چکے ہیں یقیناً یہ نقصان پانے والے تھے ۔

Those are the ones upon whom the word has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers.

اور بالیقین ہم نے ( قوم عاد ) کو وہ مقدور دیئے تھے جو تمہیں تو دیئے بھی نہیں اور ہم نے انہیں کان آنکھیں اور دل بھی دے رکھے تھے ۔ لیکن ان کے کانوں اور آنکھوں اور دلوں نے انہیں کچھ بھی نفع نہ پہنچایا جبکہ وہ اللہ تعالٰی کی آیتوں کا انکار کرنے لگے اور جس چیز کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے وہی ان پر الٹ پڑی ۔

And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allah ; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

اور بالیقین ہم نے ( قوم عاد ) کو وہ مقدور دیئے تھے جو تمہیں تو دیئے بھی نہیں اور ہم نے انہیں کان آنکھیں اور دل بھی دے رکھے تھے ۔ لیکن ان کے کانوں اور آنکھوں اور دلوں نے انہیں کچھ بھی نفع نہ پہنچایا جبکہ وہ اللہ تعالٰی کی آیتوں کا انکار کرنے لگے اور جس چیز کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے وہی ان پر الٹ پڑی ۔

And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allah ; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

پس قرب الٰہی حاصل کرنے کے لئے انہوں نے اللہ کے سوا جن جن کو اپنا معبود بنا رکھا تھا انہوں نے ان کی مدد کیوں نہ کی؟ بلکہ وہ تو ان سے کھو گئے ( بلکہ دراصل ) یہ ان کا محض جھوٹ اور بالکل بہتان تھا ۔

Then why did those they took besides Allah as deities by which to approach [Him] not aid them? But they had strayed from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing.

جب تم غنیمتیں لینے جانے لگو گے تو جھٹ سے یہ پیچھے چھوڑے ہوئے لوگ کہنے لگیں گے کہ ہمیں بھی اپنے ساتھ چلنے کی اجازت دیجئے ، وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ اللہ تعالٰی کے کلام کو بدل دیں آپ کہہ دیجئے! کہ اللہ تعالٰی پہلے ہی فرما چکا ہے کہ تم ہرگز ہمارے ساتھ نہیں چلو گے وہ اس کا جواب دیں گے ( نہیں نہیں ) بلکہ تم ہم سے حسد کرتے ہو ( اصل بات یہ ہے ) کہ وہ لوگ بہت ہی کم سمجھتے ہیں ۔

Those who remained behind will say when you set out toward the war booty to take it, "Let us follow you." They wish to change the words of Allah . Say, "Never will you follow us. Thus did Allah say before." So they will say, "Rather, you envy us." But [in fact] they were not understanding except a little.

ان کے رب نے جو کچھ انہیں عطا فرمایا ہےاسے لے رہے ہونگے وہ تو اس سے پہلے ہی نیکوکار تھے ۔

Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.

وہ رات کو بہت کم سویا کرتے تھے ۔

They used to sleep but little of the night,

پس نہ تو وہ کھڑے ہو سکے اور نہ بدلہ لے سکے

And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves.

اور نوح ( علیہ السلام ) کی قوم کا بھی اس سے پہلے ( یہی حال ہو چکا تھا ) وہ بھی بڑے نافرمان لوگ تھے ۔

And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.

اچھا اگر یہ سچے ہیں تو بھلا اس جیسی ایک ( ہی ) بات یہ ( بھی ) تو لے آئیں ۔

Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.

اور اس سے پہلے قوم نوح کو ، یقیناً وہ بڑے ظالم اور سرکش تھے ۔

And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.

یہ صلہ ہے ان کے اعمال کا ۔

As reward for what they used to do.

بیشک یہ لوگ اس سے پہلے بہت نازوں میں پلے ہوئے تھے ۔

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

کیا تو نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ آسمانوں کی اور زمین کی ہرچیز سے واقف ہے ۔ تین آدمیوں کی سرگوشی نہیں ہوتی مگر اللہ ان کا چوتھا ہوتا ہے اور نہ پانچ کی مگر ان کا چھٹا وہ ہوتا ہے اور نہ اس سے کم کی اور نہ زیادہ کی مگر وہ ساتھ ہی ہوتا ہے جہاں بھی وہ ہوں پھر قیامت کے دن انہیں ان کہ اعمال سے آگاہ کرے گا بیشک اللہ تعالٰی ہرچیز سے واقف ہے ۔

Have you not considered that Allah knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There is in no private conversation three but that He is the fourth of them, nor are there five but that He is the sixth of them - and no less than that and no more except that He is with them [in knowledge] wherever they are. Then He will inform them of what they did, on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed Allah is, of all things, Knowing.

اللہ تعالٰی نے ان کے لئے سخت عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے تحقیق جو کچھ یہ کر رہے ہیں برا کر رہے ہیں ۔

Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.
